Tournaments

Dragons aims to participate in a number of tournaments throughout the year. In fact, Dragons is known for their strong attendance at tournaments from within Brisbane to as far north as Cairns and as far south as Canberra.

QLD State Championships

The Qld State Championships is run by Volleyball Queensland, in Brisbane. In 2022 it has been split into separate junior and senior tournaments, in June and October respectively. 

Dragons usually sends a selection of PVL teams along, and sometimes other teams as well.

This tournament is generally best suited to competitive to elite players.

Flaming Chalice

Dragons' very own Flaming Chalice is held each year over the Labour Day long weekend in May.

Chalice is one of the premier tournaments in Australia and attracts over 90 teams each year.

This tournament is suited to players of all skill levels.

Country Championships

Qld Country Championships is an annual tournament run by VQ, currently held in in early June in 2023.

This tournament is suited to players wanting to take on both regional and metropolitan indoor volleyballers.

Coffs Harbour Jacanana Tournament

CHVA runs its annual Jacanana mixed six-a-side tournament in early November.

A true staple for Dragons players, we always send at leat three teams to this fun tournament.

This tournament is suited to beginners through to serious players.

 

Masters

There is normally a masters tournament in Brisbane or the Gold Coast in mid November. It alternates between the Pan Pacific Masters, and the VQ Masters.

This tournament is suited to players of age 30 and above, including those who don't play regularly.
